The aim of the article is to study the features of formation and development of reproductivism as a new scientific direction in the Urals. The study is based on the bibliometric
analysis of publications by Urals demographers and a systematic review of scientific works on the problems of reproductive labour and its economic significance. The article presents the stages of the emergence of reproductivism, considers the main concepts proposed by Ural scientists, and highlights the most important provisions of this scientific direction, including the theories of reproductive labour, risks and responsible parenthood. It is shown that reproductivism is interdisciplinary, as it unites representatives of economic and sociological sciences and has a significant impact on regional demographic policy. The role of the state and business in supporting reproductive labour through the system of social payments and compensations is emphasized. The authors concluded that it is important to further study and develop reproductivistics to overcome demographic challenges of our time.
