Filosofova symbolized the emergence of a new type of Russian women on the historical stage, who were distinguished by their rejection of an idle life, their desire for useful activities and professional work, their devotion to their chosen cause and their initiative. Understanding the traditions and lessons of the struggle of women’s organizations and their leaders for access to education and gender equality in the late 19th — early 20th century can be useful to modern scientists and academics, as well as women’s movement activists in promoting civil initiatives of modern women’s organizations, mastering technologies of self-reliance, and forming a system of social support for the population.
