The objective of the study is to examine the importance of health status as decision making factor for pensioners, both women and men, to continue working and to identify
possible ways to maintain it, taking into account the socio-economic characteristics of the population group in question. The interviews were based on four questions, which were then expanded depending on the reactive response. The issues of self-identification of working pensioners, the presence/absence of programs in the healthcare system covering specifically working pensioners; the availability and demand for healthcare services; and the specifics of motivation to maintain health of older people were considered. The results of the study show that, on the one hand, health status is an important factor motivating pensioners to continue working; on the other hand, restrictions are recorded in the ability to use medical (healthcare) services because of the continuation of labor activity. On this basis, the authors conclude that there is a need to monitor health status of working women and men of retirement age and to undertake measures to improve their access to medical services, first of all outpatient, including development of specialized subprogram within the framework of the current Active Longevity program.
