Churilova E. V., Zakharov S. V. Partnership quality, union dissolution intensions and their realization among men and women in Russia, р. 131-142

This study used three waves of the Generation and Gender Survey, which was conducted in Russia in 2004, 2007 and 2011 to test the association between marital quality, marital conflicts, union dissolution intensions and union dissolution realization in short-term (3 years) and medium-term (7 years) periods of time. Independent of the union duration women are less satisfied and reported more conflicts in union than men. Dissatisfaction in relationship both among men and women and frequent family conflicts reported by women are associated with union dissolution intentions. Using competing-risk regression, we reveal that intentions to union dissolution, in particular in women, are important predictor of relationship dissolution, although other factors are also related to union dissolution.
