Baranovsky M. V. Gender gap and trust: objective and subjective indicators of sociological analysis, Р. 74-86

The aim of the article is to provide a review and a sociological analysis of two global studies: 7 wave of The World Values Survey and an annual ranking of the global gender gap (Global Gender Gap Index 2020). The modern method of sociological study of generalized trust is described. The author compares the levels of gender inequality and trust in different states. The relationship between trust and gender gap is noted in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and the Pacific, Western Europe, as well as in the United States and Nigeria. The generalized trust index is constructed for correct comparison. A statistical correlation was found between objective and subjective indicators on the realization of women’s opportunities in the educational, political and economic spheres. Data is provided on the opinions of Russians on the issue of equality in the realization of gender potential. A comparison of the objective indicators of the gender gap set out in the report of the World Economic Forum with the results of sociological research on trust and gender opportunities confirms that the respondents’ assessments are conditioned by macroeconomic and demographic factors. The conclusion is made about the prospects for research into the emotional, cognitive and behavioral components of trust as part of the study of the modern gender order.
